CMAG members involve themselves in giving back to the community in a multitude of ways. One of our biggest is the CASA Beads project.
Every year since 2006, CMAG members have collaborated to design playful charm necklaces in the Collaborations for Kids program to support CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Kids). CASA’s mission is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are involved in the juvenile courts.
At the annual Jewelry and Metal Arts Show event goers can purchase tickets to win the one-of-a-kind necklaces adorned with heart, house and children shaped beads and charms designed and created by CMAG artists. TIckets for the drawing are $5 each or $20 for five.
In addition to the pieces in the drawing, a limited number of the CASA necklaces are available for direct purchase. 100% of proceeds go directly to CASA. CMAG has raised more than $15,000 for CASA since it started this program.
Many of our members also contribute work to other charitable events throughout the year.
In 2018, we donated warm clothing to Transition Projects.
Donations of Time and Education
Our members also generously give their time to demonstrate metalworking to regional schools, festivals, and community events. If you are looking for such programs for your not-for-profit organization, reach out to us at email@example.com to see if we can help.
In 2019, the Guild will be implementing at least one scholarship program to assist aspiring metalsmiths with their studies.
