What we do
-
General CMAG member meetings have traditionally been held on the third Tuesday of each month (excluding December) in Room 30 at the Multnomah Arts Center, 7688 SW Capitol Highway Portland 97219. Meetings begin at 7:00 PM and adjourn by 9:15 PM. They are open to CMAG members and their guests.
Our meetings start with a discussion of guild business followed by a short break with refreshments. The CMAG Library is open before the meeting and during the break so that members can check out books, videos or magazines.
The second half of our meeting features a demo, slide show, panel discussion or other metals related program. If you’d like to present at an upcoming meeting, contact our Education Chair, Madeleine Moore, at madeleine@madeleinemoore.com. -
Every year since 2006, CMAG members have collaborated to design playful charm necklaces in the Collaborations for Kids program to support CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Kids). CASA’s mission is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are involved in the juvenile courts.
At the annual Gathering of the Guilds visitors can purchase tickets to win the one-of-a-kind necklaces adorned with heart, house and children shaped beads and charms designed and created by CMAG artists. TIckets for the drawing are $5 each or $20 for five. -
CMAG is committed to public education, and our members demonstrate their techniques each year at Art in the Pearl, the outdoor art and fine craft festival held in the North Park Blocks over Labor Day weekend.

Frogwood is a five day artists’ collaborative, held biennially in Colton, Oregon. Fifty artists, from all around the world, representing a wide variety of media, gather for six nights and five days of flat-out creativity. CMAG will sponsor one artist for the 2023 event. Members can apply here.

CMAG started out as the Jeweler’s Round Table, a casual group of Portland area jewelers who met at a restaurant (and yes, sat at a round table) to discuss topics of mutual interest. It was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1986 with the goals of exchanging ideas and technical information, discussing issues of interest, providing ways to help upgrade technical and creative skills, and finding additional ways to market the work of its members.
