PLIQUE-Á-JOUR ENAMELING WITH DEBRA CARUS
Plique a jour enameling is the art of filling open work metal frames with vitreous enamels resulting in a stained glass effect. Add color, light and dimension to your pierced metal designs with luminous transparent glass.
Prerequisite: Basic nonferous metal fabrication skills required (Metalsmithing 101 or equivalent)
INSTRUCTOR:
Debra Carus combines her decades of teaching experience with 20 years of full-time metalsmithing and jewelry making, with a unique focus on the Nordic traditions of filigree, granulation, stone setting and enamels.

The following supplies will be provided as part of your supply fee:
Use of enameling kiln, lead-free enamels, hand tools, eutectic solder, flux, flex shafts, diamond grinders, sandpaper, polishing compounds and buffs, soldering stations, pickle, tracing paper, glue and saw blades
STUDENTS MUST BRING:
Drill Bits (size between 55-62)
2”x2” piece of 18ga Fine (pure) silver sheet
Set of Needle Files (Cut 2)
Colored Pencils
A water bottle & snacks/lunch
Sketch/notebook & pen/pencil
Hand towel or rag
Optivisor or other sight aids (optional)
