Writing for Artists: Crafting the Perfect Artist Statement/Bio

Artist statements and bios are essential elements of any maker’s brand, but it’s hard to know what to share, or how best to share it. Over the course of two virtual sessions, workshop participants will learn the elements that go into a successful artist statement/bio and practice crafting one of their own.

Session one begins with examination of and discussion about the effectiveness of sample bios, followed by collaborative work on information-gathering worksheets (provided).

In our second session, participants are encouraged to take the opportunity to share their drafts and receive feedback from their peers.

Participants will leave the workshop with a finished bio/statement and the knowledge needed to be able to rewrite or update it in the future.

Artists at any career stage working in any medium will find this workshop beneficial.

Please note: This workshop will be entirely conducted via Zoom, and a recording of each session will be shared with students. Participants will get the most out of joining the live sessions, but those wishing to register just to receive the recording may do so.
